Departure from San Pedro de Atacama on the road to the Jama International Pass (Argentina). During the trip we will reach 4,800 meters high, being able to see the Green and White lagoons on the Bolivian side. Later we will visit the Quepiaco Lagoon, known for its great variety of birds. Continuing our trip we will pass through the impressive Pujsa salt flat until we reach the sector known as the Monjes de la Pacana and the Aguas Calientes salt flat 1. In this place we will appreciate structures and volcanic columns that have witnessed violent volcanic events and have been modified by erosion. From this place, we continue our trip to the Quisquiro Salt Flat, natural habitat of flamingos and vicuñas, as well as enormous walls sculpted by erosion.
Overview
The salt flats route is the most interesting excursion in San Pedro de Atacama. This excursion is characterized by visiting places where it is possible to enjoy the immensity and silence of the Andes Mountain Range. Colorful inhospitable spaces like the Monjes de la Pacana, impressive salt flats like Quisquiro and Quepiaco and lagoons of varied colors like Laguna de Tara.
